GED Testing Center




In Southgate’s GED Prep classes, prepare for the test by reviewing math, social studies, science, reading, and writing the essay, including grammar and sentence structure.   When you successfully complete your GED Prep class at SACE, you will take the GED Tests at a reduced rate for the complete battery!


If you are especially weak in reading, writing, and/or math, you may not be ready to take the GED Prep class.  Southgate’s Pre-GED class will help you strengthen your skills. 


Students 20+ on Sept 1, 2013:  $30 Registration Fee for GED Prep and Pre-GED classes.

Students may take GED Test for a reduced rate of $20 upon completion of the class.


Students under 20 on Sept 1, 2013:  No Registration Fee for GED Prep and Pre-GED classes. 

Students may take GED Test for a reduced rate of $50 upon completion of the class.


Classes start the week of September 16 and will conclude in time for students to take the GED test prior to the December deadline.


GED Prep classes:

      Tue & Thur      9:00 am   - 11:30 am

      Tue & Thur      12:00 pm   - 2:30 pm

      Mon & Tue       5:40 pm   - 8:10 pm

      Mon & Wed     5:40 pm   - 8:10 pm


Pre-GED classes:

      Mon & Wed      8:30 am  - 11:00 am

      Mon & Wed      5:40 pm  - 8:10 pm


GED Testing

Testing schedule:  
1st day: Writing & Science   
2nd day: Math, Social Studies, Reading

Eligibility for GED Testing

1. Test-takers must be 18 years of age and and not currently enrolled in a regular high school or at least 16/17 with proper documentation.

2. Test-takers must have driver’s license, passport, military papers or other form of official government (national or foreign) ID that shows name, birthdate, signature, and photograph.

3. No certificates will be issued until test-taker is 18 and high school class has graduated, unless the individual has graduated from the Michigan Youth Challenge Program and is 16 years of age.

Where Tests Are Given:   Asher School, 14101 Leroy,  Southgate

How to Register:  Register one month prior to a test.   Your seating will be reserved after registration and payment have been made.  Fees are not refundable.

Registration Days and Times:  9:00 am - 3:00 pm,  Mon-Fri

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm,  Mon-Thurs

You must register IN PERSON.

What It Costs

Students who have completed the GED Preparation Class in Southgate will receive a reduced rate for GED Testing.  

All Others:  $150 for complete battery  -or-  $50 per individual test

Aug 13 & 15         Tues & Thurs    5:30 pm - 10:00 pm



Please note: In January 2014, the GED Test will change.  Previous test takers with incomplete scores or non-passing scores need to test by December 2013.
