Substitute Teachers in Michigan are required to have a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Note: Substitute teachers must be at least 22 years of age to work at the high school level (other levels do not have this restriction).
Southgate Community Schools, along with other Downriver school districts, have contracted with EduStaff to handle all of our substitute needs.
You will only have to complete one employment application even if you wish to substitute teach for more than one district.
- You select the districts you wish to work for.
- EduStaff will issue your paycheck.
- Daily compensation rates, per district, will remain the same as last year, which is $75/day for non-certified teachers and $80/day for certified teachers.
Be prepared to provide EduStaff with the following documents: Copy of university transcripts; teaching certification (if earned); driver's license; and another piece of identification such as your social security card.
If you would like to apply as a substitute teacher for Southgate, simply log on to www.edustaff.org to complete the required employment paperwork. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please contact EduStaff.
