·       Happy birthday to Tyler Beattie, Gabby Flores, and Blake Myers.

·       Last night, your 8th grade basketball team found themselves in an overtime thriller against the visiting squad from Taylor West.  In a game in which Southgate controlled the tempo for all 4 quarters, West was able to make a go-ahead 3 point basket with just under 30 seconds remaining in regulation.  Fortunately, Kaiden Booth sent the game to OT by making the first of his 2 free throw attempts.  In the overtime frame, each team fought it out to the buzzer with Taylor West prevailing in the end by a mere 2 points.  The boys will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Lincoln Park this Wednesday.

·       The 7th grade boys’ basketball team beat a good Taylor West team 34-18 yesterday.  The Titans were led by Sal Kinser with eight points, Colin Thomas with six points, and Eddie Collins and Reece Omodio with 5 points each.  Andrew Gates, Tony Ruiz and Connor Swinney each had three points.  The Titans travel to Lincoln Park tomorrow for a 4:00 pm game.

Daily Announcements for Davidson 12/05/17

·       Happy birthday to Ryan Lynch and Cheyenne Maginity.

·       Last night, the 8th grade basketball team traveled to Strong Middle School to take on the Cardinals of Melvindale.  After getting off to a sluggish start, your 8th grade boys were able to overcome a double digit deficit to draw the game to a tie in the closing minutes.  Unfortunately, Melvindale was able to convert a basket with just under 20 seconds left to walk away with a 2 point win.  Next up for the Titans is another road contest at Trenton this Wednesday.

·       The 7th grade boys’ basketball team won a big game by knocking off the 3rd place Melvindale Cardinals 30-28.  The Titans were led offensively by Eddie Collins, Rogelio Herrera, Reece Omodio, Colin Thomas and Tony Ruiz.  The Titans got a big lift by adding Steven Connole to the roster for this game.  Steven stepped up and played great defensively for the Titans.  Other Titans that played well were Tyler Jordan, Connor Swinney, Jacob Beck and Andrew Gates.  The play of the game was a blocked shot by Colin Thomas with two seconds to play to secure a Titan win.  Great job boys!

·       Your 8th grade basketball team scrapped and clawed their way to a huge victory at Taylor Hoover last night.  The squad set the tone early; taking a big lead in the 1st quarter and never looking back.  Things did get a bit tight in the fourth until Donovan Colegrove checked into the game.  Colegrove electrified the crowd with his clutch free throws and timely rebounds.  It was an all-around great effort by your 8th grade squad, with every team member contributing.  The Titans will look to build on their winning ways as they travel to Melvindale on Monday.

·       The Marching Band will be performing in Band-A-Rama this weekend.  Shows are Friday night at 7:00 pm, Saturday night at 7:00 pm, and Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm.  Admission for students is $5.  Staff members are free with their school ID.  Several of Davidson’s students are in the high school marching band so come on out to watch a great show.
