Just Plain Cool Sites

Wikisend
Wikisend is simple and free.  Upload and download lots of files, big files, small files, data files, media files, archives or backups - any files.  Sharing files, photos, videos or documents is easy, fast, and reliable.  The file size is limited to 100 MB and only stays active for seven (7) days.  This comes in handy when you don’t have a flash drive or if the files are too large to email. No need to register, activate, install or read manuals – just use the uploading form, and you’re ready to go.

VoiceThread
A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or phone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.

Users can mark up the file while making comments. VoiceThreads can even be embedded on web sites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs as archival movies.  With VoiceThread, group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world. All with no software to install.   Teachers can use VoiceThread to facilitate student discussions on various artwork, photographs, presentations and documents

Froguts
Subscription Based Service ($300 per year per school)  Mac or PC Users
This site offers virtual dissection of a frog, owl pellet, starfish, fetal pig, cow eye and a squid.  This could be used as an alternative to costly laboratory and specimen purchases.  This site does offer demos on the frog, squid and owl pellet, however, with very limited functionality.  Teachers can use Froguts to expose students to virtual dissection without the traditional science lab equipment.
