Mr. Neil's Biology Corner

Who is the Mr. Neil guy anyway????

Hey, there! Thanks for checking things out about Mr. Neil. Well, where do I start? At the beginning would be a good place. I was born October 29, 1971 to 2 great parents, Bud & Judy Neil and they gave me the name Daniel Everet Neil. Don't laugh about the Everet part; if my dad had his way, I would have been named Tharon Everet Neil III, yikes! I'm Southgate born and bred. I grew up on Sycamore street and went to Chormann K-6, Gerisch 7-8, and Southgate Anderson 9-12. I graduated in 1989 and went off to Wayne State University to further my education. After changing my major several times and working at UPS for 4 years, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Secondary Teaching Certificate from the state of Michigan in 1998. I taught 2 years of chemistry & biology at Hamtramck High School before coming home to Southgate Anderson in the 2000-2001 school year.

So, that's how I became a teacher at Southgate Anderson. What, you ask, have I done here since then? Good question and here's some answers. I've taught Biology and Basic Biology (now called Principles of Bio) every year and I couldn't be happier with those classes; they are cool. Just ask my former students, haha! Along with Ms. Bowers(now Ms. Ray), I was a class sponsor for the Class of 2003, I have MC'd several pep assemblies including Homecoming 2008, and have become affectionately known as the "Voice of the Titans" because of my announcing at football and basketball games. Baseball has been a major part of my life ever since I was a young boy. I enjoy sharing my experiences of the "greatest game ever" with the players at Anderson High School. I coached the JV team for 2 years under my former coach, Coach Ferrante, went up to the varsity for 6 seasons, and now I'm headed back to be the JV head coach in the 2009 season.

I married my wonderful wife in 1999 and we live with our 2 adopted greyhounds in Southgate. I hope this helped you get to know me a bit better. Thanks for taking the time to read about me.

Best wishes,

Mr. Neil
