Posting of Assurances

The majority of this process will utilize the Five Star web-based Pivot application (both the teacher and administrator will use this system extensively).

Pivot Tool

Over the course of a school year, this process will include two Formative Feedback Cycles.

The first Feedback Cycle includes

  1. Self-assessment in Pivot (due September 29th).
  2. The teacher and administrator collaboratively determine areas of focus(3-5 Indicators from 2-3 Dimensions) and establish a growth plan in a Pre-Inquiry Cycle Conference (due October 14th).
  3. Two observations of 15 minutes or more including Scripting Observations (coded), Noticings/Wonderings and teacher response (2 school day turnover for each), and Formative Feedback (5 school day turnover) on areas of focus.
  • 1st Observation between October 17th and December 2nd
  •  2nd Observation between December 5th and January 31st
  1. Formative analysis of progress toward goals in a Mid-Year Post-Inquiry Cycle Conference (Due February 10th).

The second Feedback Cycle includes

  1. The teacher and administrator collaboratively reviewing areas of focus for remaining school year and modifying (if necessary) growth plan in the Mid-Year Post-Inquiry Cycle Conference - same meeting as step #4 above (Due February 10th).
  2. Two observations of 15 minutes or more including Scripting Observations (coded), Noticings/Wonderings and teacher response (2 school day turnover for each), and Formative Feedback (5 school day turnover) on areas of focus
    • 3rd Observation between February 1st and March 10th
    • 4th Observation between March 13th and April 28th

3.      Summative analysis of progress toward goals and determination of effectiveness rating in Year-End Post-Inquiry Cycle Conference (due May 31st).

  • Must provide all student assessments and data points (e.g. student work, scantrons, essays - unless information is in MIStar DnA) to support growth goals
  • Evidence for rubric if not uploaded into Pivot
  • End of Year Teacher Evaluation Rating Tool

All teachers will have the above mentioned growth plans.

NEW Directions for Mid-Year Pre-Inquiry Cycle Conference Progress Report

For probationary (non-tenure) teachers and teachers who would otherwise be on a "Plan of Assistance", these growth plans will be labeled as Individual Development Plans (IDP) and the goals will be determined by their building administrator in consultation with the teacher.  Feedback on the 1st and 3rd observations will be provided in a face-to-face conference.

For everyone else, the initial goals will be set by the teacher in consultation with their building administrator.  Individual observation feedback will be delivered via Pivot, administrators will be available to discuss feedback face-to-face upon request.
