October  2, 2013 PTO minutes

Present:

Principal- Mr. Perry

PTO President -Adriana Gonzales

Vice President- Alison Wright

Treasurer- Crystal Barnes

Secretary- Sarah Bell

Came to order at 6:02 pm

 

Treasurer’s Report:

  • 6479.31 Balance beginning of the year. Didn’t spend down.
  • Balance $5751.45

~Used money for:

o         Friday Folders with new mascot $460

o        Ice Cream Social supplies  $98 profit

o        Candy grams supplies $114.00

o        $50/ teacher for  beginning of the year supplies

 

Principal Report:

  • Mr. Perry went over upcoming important dates.
    • October 2nd Count Day went well 338 kids total enrolled.
    • MEAP beginning October 8th
    • Marking Periods this year; 4 semester and 4 report cards
    • October 24th  a half day for students
    • Conferences November 21st  Half Day

 

Teacher Report:

·         K-2/3-5

    • Ms. Plocharczyk  represented k-2

·         Kindergarten classes are going to the zoo.

·         PTO is providing $200 toward the bus rental.

 

·         Asked the Parents at the meeting for help with the School Improvement Team. They are asking for 2-3 parents to come to the meetings to provide input and ideas.

    • Meetings are the first Tuesdays of each month at 3:30-4:30 in the Library

 

Pizza Kits:

  • Classroom winner: Mrs. Mazur 
  • Top grade winner: Kindergarten; will be given an ice cream party or pizza party.

Mom2Mom Sale:

  • Vinyl signs being made for the sale to put at the corners. A motion was granted for the buying of the signs.
    • Will pay $50 for 5 signs
    • Advertising for event is PTO Facebook page, cable channels, News Herald, Southgate Schools website, and Fordline PTO website
  • Dana and Beth are chairing the event

 

Halloween Fest:

  • Dalia will chair the event with help from Adriana and Alison
  • 7-8:30 October 23rd
  • $1/ student admission
  • Teachers will read stories in their rooms; Times are going to be posted
  • 5th graders are running concession stand
  • Simple crafts and fun games

 

Book Fair:

  • Will be held on November 18-22 by Vanessa

 

Conferences:

  • November 21st  times not available
  • PTO is working to have a lunch available for teachers donated by local restaurants.

 

Secret Santa Shop:

  • December 9-13th
  • Contract signed with Fun Services to provide items
  • Suggestions given to use Dollar Castle next time.
  • Need volunteers 

 

Popcorn Fridays:

  • Flyer to go home on Thursday October 9th
  • All the supplies are bought

 

Watch Dogs:

  • Mr. Perry getting in contact with Mr. Hayes
  • Getting started after the MEAPs are over

 

Fifth Grade Banquet:

  • Crystal Barnes is chairing this event
  • Meeting being held in the Cafeteria on October 8th  at 6:30 pm
  • Meeting for those that can’t make evenings; October 15th at 8:30 am at Arthurs or Panera Bread.
  • Need fourth grade  parent volunteers
