Open Letter to Parents and Voters of Southgate

—Posted by: Kristina Repp, Updated on:October 07, 2015

Every day, Southgate Community Schools serves more than 4,300 students in our community. As superintendent, I see first-hand how our students, teachers and staff, and parents continue to work hard to make our school district a place of pride.  Like many communities, our road has been challenging. I recognize the hard work and sacrifice parents make daily to get their children to school without the aid of busses, to contribute to our athletic, music, and extra-curricular programs, and to donate countless hours and dollars to enhance our programs and facilities. I recognize the hard work and sacrifice our staff has made to reduce our debt through wage concessions, to pay for supplies from their own pocket, and to volunteer thousands of hours of extra support and programming for our students. This is what our community represents, hard work and sacrifice.

It was recently announced that our school district is on the emergency watch list of deficit districts

On Thursday, October 8, 2015, Davidson Middle School will be hosting our first semester parent/teacher conferences.  The afternoon conference time is scheduled from 1:00-2:30pm and the evening conference time is scheduled from 5:00-7:30pm.  Teachers will conference on a first come, first serve basis.  Each conference will be limited to 5 minutes.  Please respect the length of this conference opportunity, as we have many families to accommodate on this day.  If  you feel that you need to consult with your student's teachers for an additional amount of time, please feel free to schedule this additional meeting with that individual teacher (s).

If you are able to print your child's report card from MISTAR, to bring with you to conferences, this will help expedite the process.  If you are not able to print your child's report card, a copy will be available in the Davidson main office.  Teachers will be located in bot
